"pas de deux" by norm mclaren (1967)

this video was the first time that multiple exposure time-lapse animation was seen in film. although pretty mundane in todays world, this was a pretty revolutionary technique at the time. you could do this in like 2 minutes nowadays, but when this short was made, each exposure had to be laid down manually, one on top of the other, on top of the other, etc.,etc., to acheive the desired results. first time i saw this, the sound was muted and sades "cherish the day" was the soundtrack. it touched me. right here.

bennet robot works

"these robot sculptures by gordon bennet are made from a mixture of found objects. the parts are found in various places including garbage dumps, basements, construction sites, and garage sales."
well, i like the concept. im pretty wowed by the fact that homeboy is selling these for between 750 and 4000 dollars, and they are moving! he says they take about a month to build, which seems like b.s. to me, more like a few hours, but more power to him. and hes selling 50 dollar posters!

laurie anderson- o superman

i cant even begin to describe the influence laurie anderson had on freaking my young impressionable mind. this video is from 1981, which would have made me 8 when i first saw it, and i have loved it since. house heads should try to check out the M.A.N.D.Y. remix of this song.

adrian belew- three of a perfect pair

another adrian belew performance- this one is a great example of why the adrian belew performaces i have seen were some of the best concert experiences i ever had. hes an absolute joy to watch, always seems to have such a great time on stage, not to even mention just how frickin talented the guy is.
